Here is a little about our trip....
Africa was amazing!!! A typical day was up at 5 Am , breakfast at 6:00, game drive at 6:30. We would be out for 4 1/2 hours come back for lunch and went back to our 'tents' (complete with toilet and shower) --it's too hot to do much in the middle of the day and all the animals except the zebra and the antelopes are sleepy. Tea at 4PM usually followed by a lecture, then back out on a game drive. Cocktails at sundown out in the bush(God, that was great!!!!) and dinner around 8 then off to bed. We saw lions with a kill(baby elephant), hyenas, leopard, rhinos, tons of elephants, many types of antelope, jackals, mongoose, giraffe - and the birds - so many birds.
We went to 4 different game reserves, flying in small (6 seater) planes and landing on dirt runways in the middle of nowhere with animals roaming around. A Landrover and in one case a boat would be there waiting to take us to the lodge often over an hour ride away.
We were in Zimbabwe when the election results came in. We were all huddled around a little battery operated radio with a broken antenna propped up on a drum in the lodge. The Zimbabweans are longing to have an election that means something. The country is dictated by President Robert Mougabe who was voted out in the last 2 elections but his motto must be "Hell no - I won't go'' sad as the country is very bad off.
We enjoyed the people in Botswana, Namibia and Zimbabwe-their dance, song and culture was captivating.
We finished up our trip in Cape Town (back to civilization!) - what a beautiful place, we got very lucky with the weather - and the dollar was strong there as well.
Phil and I took a number of photos, I have yet to download them, I am hoping to get to it this weekend. I will put up a link and you can see what if you'd like.

It was a nice outing for us too. First, the weather couldn't have been better for November, or any other time of the year, for that matter. Rusty QQd on Sat and then missed a QQ yesterday due to late info (no info?) on an A/F-tunnel discrim. She looked fabulous all weekend. It is good to see her back in her old form after this summer's health issues.
Flashy kept me humble with one Q in STD to show for the weekend. He entertained all on Sat when he left the start line "a bit prematurely" in JWW. He managed a very pretty big lateral lead out all by himself....would have been nice to see it myself. <sigh> And he did a nice job of reading the numbers for the first third of the course with me following behind. It wasn't until after the poles, where I was able to catch up, that he incurred a refusal on a tunnel. (What's wrong with this picture???) Lack of attention on the DW yesterday made him tumble off the down side, luckily from not very high up. Gotta love my boy!

Billy and I had a great weekend at NORCAL, lots of nice runs. If they gave bonus points for that one "extra", unnumbered obstacle, it would have been an awesome weekend.
On Sat. Billy took 1st Place in Open JWW and earned his Title. Also had a 1st Place in STND for his 2nd Ex A Q.

Yes more news from the NORCAL golden club. Jack had probably the most awesome weekend ever He QQ'd Saturday with 1st in both- No Q Sunday due handler error in both. BUT Jack kept all bars up the whole weekend and was jumping fabulously. Trixie QQ'd Sun with a 2nd place in STd (5 out of 44 dogs Q'd) . Saw some other good runs and couldn't ask for such great fall weather. Esther, Jack and Trixie

Well, it was all about Jive this weekend at the NORCAL Golden AKC Trial. Saturday he finished his Open Standard title and earned a second leg in Open JWW. Sunday he finished his Open JWW title and took first place in Exc A FAST. So he's now totally in AKC Exc. classes. Yeah! Cruiser earned 20 points this weekend (29 to go for MACH 3 and his AKC retirement) and Mike and I had some nice runs but only 1 Q in JWW. I know there are other Frielance brags from this weekend (Esther and others so don't be shy!)

Went to the Golden Retriever group sponsored trials in Santa Rosa today.
On our first run in Standard Open we picked up a third place. Bella decided to enjoy the view from the top of the A frame or we might have been 2nd or even 1st.
We didn't Q in our second shot at JWW, but we've learned more about the rules that will fix that in the future.
For his hard work my hubby, Guy, has been promoted to Lackey Open Clase. He does well and doesn't require potty runs or treats.
Welcome back, Sharon. Hope you're enjoying being back home even if our fauna is not as exotic as Africa.

Many Congratulations to Tracy and Penny on their successful CPE debute. They did great. So well that Tracy actually will have some explaining to do as to why they did better in a trial that sometimes in class.
I am so proud of Trek. For the afternoon the teeters appeared on the courses and the sound of the teeters echoed loudly under the arena cover, and she was terrified and basically had an emotional meltdown (glad we don't live around thunderstorms), and despite being given lots of time away from the ring she could not cope running with the sound around and I had to carry her shaking off the jackpot course and straight into Suzanne Deghi's Massage Tent for some stress relieving accupressure and back to the car crate to chill out for 2+ hours.
Suzanne said to consider scratching her from her last run, but it was her standard run and I didn't want to give up on it just then. We were the last class of the day and luck was with us that the other ring had finished so no teeters. As the class started, I brought her near the ring and she started to shake. We found partial refuge in the equipment trailer of all places where she could still hear the goings on but it was muted. After some minutes and some accupressure and treats and just letting her come to terms with the dampened echoing she started to relax a little. I decided to give the run a try, while concentrating on keeping stress out of my voice and not worry about speed.
She did it. Flawlessly. No charging past obstacles. No zooming around. No jumping off of contact obstacles or concluding that the tunnel was too scary. She Q'd, got 2nd, and now has her CL-1 title. Such a brave doggy.
Though we are going to wait a bit on competing in covered arenas which puts a bit of the kabosh on more winter trialing save for NADAC at Wag. Oh well. Goodies will be at class on Friday.

Well a good time was had by all at the USDAA Cynosport World Games in Scottsdale. Mike was a finalist in the Performance Speed Jumping Championships and we took fourth place! What a rush to run with my Golden Boy under the lights with the crowd cheering us on from the stands! He missed getting into the Performance Grand Prix Finals by an up dog walk contact...go figure. Cruiser made it to the Grand Prix semi-finals again, the old man really ran his heart out in the heat of the day to accomplish that! And Jive learned all about the fun sport of lure coursing! He was insane trying to get the lure, but couldn't quite catch up to Wendy Bruce's Callie who was a lure coursing superstar and also passed her herding instinct test.
